Injured Philadelphia Eagles WR Now Expected to Miss Six Weeks With Broken Bone

The Philadelphia Eagles have several wide receivers battling injuries in Week 4. The team placed receiver/special teams returner Britain Covey on injured reserve this week for a shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints.

Per Eagles insider John McMullen, Covey is expected to miss six weeks with a broken scapula.

"Just caught up with Britain Covey," McMullen posted on X. "Confirmed a broken scapula. Expects to miss six weeks or so but no surgery. Painful injury. He said sleeping is tough and daddy duty is more difficult. Has been sitting next to Cooper DeJean in ST meetings since the spring. Expects the rookie to be ready at PR."

The Eagles have two of their top two receivers on the injury report this week.

DeVonta Smith suffered a concussion from a controversial hit by Saints defensive tackle Khristian Boyd in the fourth quarter. Boyd was not penalized for the play but received a fine from the league for an illegal hit on Wednesday.

Smith was estimated as a non-participant in Wednesday's walkthrough practice.

A.J. Brown missed the previous two games with a hamstring issue. He was estimated as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice.

Covey has seven receptions for 34 yards this season. He has returned one punt for nine yards.

The 2-1 Eagles will play the 2-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
