Paul Finebaum Names College Football Powerhouse That's a 'Lock For The Playoffs'

The Texas Longhorns have reclaimed the No. 1 spot in college football for the first time since 2008. The Longhorns are 4-0 and have an impressive win over the then No. 10 Michigan Wolverines on the road.

The Longhorns have one of the most balanced teams in the country. They are ranked No. 5 in total defense, No. 8 in passing defense, No. 26 in rushing defense and tied for No. 1 in scoring defense. Offensively, they are ranked No. 12 in total offense, No. 10 in passing offense, No. 44 in rushing offense and No. 11 in scoring offense.

Because of this, Paul Finebaum stated on his show, the "Paul Finebaum Show," that Texas is a lock for the College Football Playoff.

"I think Texas is a lock for the playoffs," Finebaum said. "It's just a matter of where they end up in the seeding."

Finebaum mentioned that Texas has a tough schedule ahead. He noted that the Longhorns will be playing the No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners in a massive rivalry game and the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in two of their next three games. He also feels that starting quarterback Quinn Ewers will return from injury against Oklahoma.

If Ewers is unable to play, the Longhorns will be led by quarterback Arch Manning, the former No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class. Manning made his first start last weekend against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Ewers is listed as "questionable" for this weekend's game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
