Josh Pate's Top 25 College Football Poll Ahead of Week 5

Texas is viewed as the consensus top team in the country after Week 4.

Aside from the AP Poll and Coaches Poll , many well-respected college football analysts release power rankings of their own following each week of the 2024 college football season. CBS Sports' Josh Pate constructs his a little differently as he releases power ratings, not power rankings, as it does not take into account win/loss records. Instead, Pate focuses on current favorability on a neutral field.

Following Week 4, Pate places the Longhorns at No. 1 followed by Georgia (No. 2), Ohio State (No. 3), Alabama (No. 4) and Tennessee (No. 5).

Texas will face Georgia on Oct. 19 in Austin, one of the premier matchups of the year, and also Oklahoma (No. 23) and Texas A&M (No. 20) throughout the regular season.

Steve Sarkisian's squad will open SEC play against Mississippi State on Sept. 28 as heavy favorites before enjoying a bye week. Following the bye week, Texas faces a tough portion of the schedule facing Oklahoma and Georgia back-to-back weeks.
