Angel Reese Leaves No Doubt About Her Opinion of Chicago Sky Coach

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese and WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes recently spoke on the "Unapologetically Angel" podcast, where Reese reflected on her rookie season.

Reeses' season was cut short due to a wrist injury she suffered a few weeks ago, but when she was able to make an impact on the Sky, she was arguably their most valuable player.

The 6-foot-3 forward believes she was successful in her rookie season because of the fit in Chicago with head coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

She mentioned that being drafted No. 7 was a blessing and she thanks Weatherspoon for acting as a "mom" for her on and off the court.

"I don’t think I would’ve been this successful without T-Spoon," Reese said. "All my hard days, I can call her… She’s been there for me through everything."

Prior to her injury, Reese started in all 34 games for the Sky during her rookie season. She was certainly Chicago's anchor on the defensive end, and besides star guard Chennedy Carter, Reese was also one of the top offensive weapons.

She finished her rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. The Sky forward led the WNBA in average rebounds while she was active for Chicago and was the only rookie who averaged a double-double.

Under Weatherspoon, Reese was named a WNBA All-Star in her rookie season and competed for the WNBA's Rookie of the Year, most notably facing Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Reese was quick to give Weatherspoon credit since she was set up for success early in her career.
