Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Escorted Off Field By Officials

After suffering two straight losses, the Dallas Cowboys (1-2) look to get back on track with a divisional matchup against the New York Giants (1-2) on "Thursday Night Football."

For the Cowboys, the last two weeks have been very disappointing, especially on the defensive side, allowing 44 points to the Saints and 28 to the Ravens at home. But against the Giants, Dallas may have taken an even bigger hit.

With just over 12 minutes remaining in the second quarter, Cowboys defensive anchor Micah Parsons suffered an injury while making a tackle. It appeared that his own teammate may have accidentally hit him in the head.

The officials calling the game noticed Parsons seemed a little off following the hit and had him escorted to the Cowboys' sideline.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Parsons was brought into the blue medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion and a neck injury.

The All-Pro linebacker was initially ruled questionable to return but came back in a few minutes later.

Parsons has been a game-changer for the Dallas defense over the past few seasons. Under Dan Quinn, the Cowboys had one of the best defenses in the NFL, with Parsons at the forefront.

But under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, the Cowboys have struggled on that side of the ball, allowing the most rushing yards per game and the third-most points per game entering Week 4.

In three contests this season, Parsons has only recorded one sack, leaving him on pace to finish the season well below his career average of 13.5 sacks.

If the Cowboys want to improve, they will have to figure out their new defensive scheme and find a way to prevent opposing offenses from running down their throats. They will also need Parsons healthy.
