In Week 4's edition of "Thursday Night Football," the Dallas Cowboys hit the road to face their divisional rival, the New York Giants.

For both teams, it has not been the season fans were hoping for, with each squad holding a 1-2 record prior to the game.

Dallas went into the new year with high expectations but a lot of holes, including the defensive line and a very young offensive line, which sports two rookies.

The Cowboys youth was exposed in the first half alone on Thursday night, with nine penalties called on them for 70 yards, compared to the Giants three penalties for just 25 yards.

Throughout the first half of the game, Al Michaels, the lead commentator for TNF on Amazon Prime, frequently expressed his frustration with the high number of penalties. He made numerous comments about the referees' decisions and even seemed surprised when a penalty was not called.

"It looks like June 14th here, otherwise known as Flag Day, as you know," Michaels said.

"And for a change, no flag," Michaels commented after a CeeDee Lamb touchdown.

"Kirk Herbstreit: 'It's the 8th penalty now? Right?'
Al Michaels: 'No, it's the 147th!'"

“The refs have logged into Amazon and ordered some new flags," Michaels added.

Michaels started his sportscasting career in 1976 with ABC Sports, where he called "Monday Night Football" games. In 2006, he transitioned to NBC Sports to call "Sunday Night Football." When Amazon began exclusively broadcasting "Thursday Night Football" in 2022, Michaels made another change, joining Kirk Herbstreit every Thursday night during football season.

But the one that counted the most was the first drive. Cowboys committed the face mask penalty but the giants were charged with it.
