Angel Reese's Social Media Post After Teresa Weatherspoon Firing Says It All

Change is afoot in Chicago. After missing the playoffs in her first season, Teresa Weatherspoon has been fired from her post as the team's head coach. It's a surprising announcement, especially since Weatherspoon was with the team for less than a year.

Sky rookie Angel Reese was one of the first players to react, expressing her heartbreak in a lengthy post on X. In the post, Reese said that Witherspoon was "the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me."

Reese continued her support for Weatherspoon on her Instagram. The Sky rookie posted two pictures of her and her former coach, with one picture showing Reese leaning on Weatherspoon.

Witherspoon led the Sky to a 13-27 record in her first and only year as the head coach. They narrowly missed the postseason, losing out to the Atlanta Dream towards the end of the year. Under Weatherspoon, Reese had a great start to her WNBA career.

In her rookie season, Reese made her mark as one of the premier rebounders in the league. She averaged a double-double of 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. She also initially held the new single-season rebounding record with 446 boards, before A'ja Wilson broke the record in the final game of the year with 451.

Reese has long expressed her support and admiration for Witherspoon, being her first coach in the WNBA. It will be interesting to see how the team moves forward in their search for a new coach.

Swoops wants the job, and Reese invited her come coach, on her podcast. Weatherspoon firing is no mystery. It is what Reese wanted.
