David Pollack Predicts Huge College Football Upset on Saturday

Former ESPN college football analyst David Pollack recently released his Week 5 preview, sharing his predictions on some games that have College Football Playoff implications.

After Pollack spent a lengthy part of the podcast speaking on the game of the week, No. 2 Georgia at No. 4 Alabama, he dropped his biggest upset prediction of Week 5.

Pollack believes the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are on the verge of losing yet another game this season at home. He's picking the No. 1 team in the ACC, Louisville Cardinals, to outplay Notre Dame and take home the upset victory.

Much of his reasoning has to do with the Fighting Irish's offense. While Pollack credited Louisville for having solid contributors on both sides of the ball, he's worried about the Notre Dame offense.

He mentioned that the Fighting Irish are "suspect," most notably in their pass game.

"I think I'm going to surprise you," Pollack said. "I'm going to take Louisville. I think it's super close. I think it's 24-21, but the thing that throws me off with watching Notre Dame is their pass game. I just don't think it's good. I think it's suspect."

The Fighting Irish are playing behind transfer quarterback Riley Leonard. The Duke transfer has posted one touchdown on 587 passing yards this season.

Despite the Fighting Irish starting the year 3-1, there have been questions surrounding their offense all year.

Leonard was one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal, but his passing was never the reason. He's one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation, but Pollack believes Notre Dame is holding him back.

In his best season with the Blue Devils (2022), Leonard recorded 20 touchdowns on 2,967 passing yards, and he added 13 touchdowns and 699 yards on the ground.

Since it doesn't seem the Fighting Irish will let Leonard loose and let him play through his legs, Pollack doesn't trust Notre Dame to keep up with Louisville.

Pollack is taking a substantial underdog, with the Fighting Irish listed as 7-point favorites in Week 5.

How exactly is that an upset when Louisville is ranked higher than Notre Dame? Stick to the SEC my guy.

Notre Dame is so overrated every year.
