Stephen A. Smith is known for his outspoken opponents and at times fan-centered takes on the world of sports, especially in regards to the National Football League.

On Friday, Smith revealed that he has a rooting interest in Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, shortly after roasting him for his at times abysmal play this season.

Watson had two 4,000-plus yard seasons with the Houston Texans before heading to Cleveland in 2022. Smith continues to wonder if the Texans version of Watson will ever return, and drew a parallel between the two versions of the quarterback.

"Before CJ Stroud, there was a brother by the name of Deshaun Watson," Smith said on ESPN's First Take.

"I'm very disgusted with Deshaun Watson. Here's why: Because I root for the brother," Smith added. "I want the man to succeed. I remember what I saw in Houston with the Texans. I don't know what the hell happened to him since that period of time.

"But the only thing we do know about him is that the (sexual assault) cases against him went away, but so did his game."

Watson's QB Rating has plummeted from a career high of 83.7 in his rookie year to totals in the 40s with the Browns, culminating in his career low 21.3 QBR so far this season.
