Another Week 5 College Football Game Canceled Due To Hurricane Helene

A few college football games have been in jeopardy in Week 5 due to the effects of Hurricane Helene.

A report by On3 Sports on Friday revealed that a matchup between the No. 1 team in the Conference USA and its Sun Belt conference opponent has even canceled.

The first game that was canceled due to the hurricane was a matchup between Florida A&M and Alabama A&M. That game was rescheduled to Nov. 29.

The Liberty Flames and Appalachian State have now been hit with the same news. Their matchup in Boone, North Carolina has been canceled and will not be rescheduled this season.

Liberty entered the game as the favorites, despite playing on the road. They're 4-0 on the year, playing as the the most dominant team in the Conference USA.

The Flames have secured victories against Campbell, New Mexico State, UTEP and Eastern Carolina.

They're playing behind the success of their quarterback Kaiden Salter who's already produced seven touchdowns and 949 passing yards with a 64.1 completion percentage.

Appalachian State, on the other hand, has struggled as of late. They're 2-2 on the season, having lost 66-20 to the Clemson Tigers and 48-14 to the South Alabama Jaguars.

The Mountaineers clearly have holes on the defensive end, but their offense hasn't found its rhythm either. Their leading rusher on the season is running back Anderson Castle who's recorded just one touchdown and 184 yards this year.

App State's quarterback, Joey Aguilar, has been airing it out all year, throwing for seven touchdowns and 1,230 passing yards, but the Mountaineers are short of weapons on the outside.
