The Time Is Now: This Eagles Player Must Step Up Amid Injuries In Week 4

The Philadelphia Eagles could potentially be without their No. 1 and No. 2 wide receivers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.

AJ Brown hasn't played since the Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, and now it appears DeVonta Smith could miss at least one game with a concussion. Britain Covey is also is expected to miss time.

Brown's status will continue to be monitored ahead of Sunday's 1 PM ET kickoff, but he's trending in the wrong direction after not practicing this week.

The Eagles offense can't seem to catch a break thus far. Jalen Hurts has leaned heavily on Smith in the passing game in Brown's absence, and unfortunately, his double-digit target share left him too exposed over the middle of the field last Sunday.

The NFL fined New Orleans Saints rookie Khristian Boyd for his controversial tackle on Smith in Week 3.

Boyd has been issued a $4,600 fine , per ESPN's Adam Schefter on X. The blindside hit caused Smith to leave in the fourth quarter of the Saints-Eagles matchup and never return. It was later reported that Smith had suffered a concussion.

That leaves preseason trade acquisition Jahan Dotson with a golden opportunity to lead the team in targets on the outside.

After Dallas Goedert's career performance against the Saints, he'll likely draw the most attention from Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles in Week 4.

Dotson has only seen five targets this season, but the Eagles need him to step up and be the route-runner that he was for the Washington Commanders.
