Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever saw their 2024 season come to an end after an 87-81 Game 2 loss against the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA playoffs.

It was an incredible season for the 2024 No. 1 pick out of Iowa. She led the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016, breaking many records along the way, including the most assists in a season and a game, the most points by a rookie and the first two triple-doubles by a rookie.

On Friday, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Clark was named the WNBA Rookie of the Year for her historic season.

Charania also revealed in the same post that Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier won Defensive Player of the Year and Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson won MVP.

On Sunday, September 22, it was revealed that Clark won the Associated Press Rookie of the Year. But this new announcement is the official award.

In 2024, Clark gave Indiana its first winning record in over five years but finished the season at 20-20. In 40 games, she averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists.

Following Shams' post, many WNBA fans took to social media to comment that Clark was the obvious choice for the award.

"no one is surprised," one fan said.

"Only deserving player of the award lol can’t even think of another possible candidate"

"Was never in doubt, CC ROTY"

    "Never in doubt"

    "I mean, that was obvious."

"Is this a surprise to anyone lmao"

Up until the Olympic break, the Rookie of the Year race between Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese was pretty neck-and-neck. However, Clark and the Fever caught fire upon the league's return, winning nine of their last 14 games, while Reese and the Sky went 3-13 in that same timeframe.
