LeBron James Refutes Sheryl Swoopes’ Claim Caitlin Clark is a Problem in Fever Locker Room

It’s been well-documented that WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes is highly critical of Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

While most media pundits have praised Clark for her record-breaking accomplishments this season, Swoopes maintained that the Iowa alum wasn’t dominant in her eyes, despite finishing fourth in the Associated Press’ WNBA MVP voting.

One of Swoopes’ more recent criticisms, and one that really got under the skin of Fever fans, came during an appearance on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, in which Swoopes claimed that several players in Indiana’s locker room want out of town because of Clark.

One person who isn’t buying those accusations is Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who in an exclusive interview with Brian O’Keefe of Esquire, threw cold water on Swoopes’ declaration.

“[Clark] has the vision, she has the spirit, she’s infectious (and) people want to play with her,” James said . “[The Fever are] going to be a really good team, and not too long from now.”

While it’s not known if James’ remarks were a direct shot at Swoopes, one can’t help but think it was a clap-back of sorts.

While Swoopes has no direct evidence of her allegations, there’s no mistaking she clearly wanted everyone to believe that Clark is causing a divide in the Fever locker room.

“There's a lot of other s*** going on, that other [Fever] players are like ‘This ain't where I want to be,’” Swoopes said. “So you have players that are very significant on this Indiana Fever team that are like, ’'I don't...I don't think this is where I want to be this year.’”

Fans have learned to take Swoopes’ criticism of Clark with a grain of salt because she’s been proven wrong before.

Back in January Swoopes blasted Clark, which ironically was also during an appearance on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, after she broke Kelsey Plum’s NCAA scoring record, incorrectly exclaiming her accomplishment was less impressive because Clark achieved in five seasons what Plum achieved in four.

Clark only played four seasons at Iowa.
