The Michigan Wolverines are facing notable backlash following a viral post to the program's official X account on Friday.

The No. 12 Wolverines (3-1) are preparing to welcome the Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-2) to Michigan Stadium for a Big Ten matchup on Saturday. The forecast is calling for an 81% chance of rain during the day, and in an effort to make a nuanced pregame social media post, the UM account posted a player standing in water at Michigan Stadium with the caption, "Looking good in any weather.”

The Wolverines deleted the post minutes later after people pointed out the graphic and caption as insensitive to those affected by hurricane Helene. The Category 4 hurricane has ravaged the southeast over the last two days.

"What intern approved this," a user responded .

'This is bad taste tbh," another wrote .

"Wait what Florida is underwater and Michigan is posting this? Legendary," one wrote .

Michigan fans also weighed in on the program's post.

"Love y'all but maybe ex-nay on the flood imagery right now?," one fan responded .

"Not sure about the timing on this one fellas," another wrote .

Hurricane Helene has killed at least 40 people, according to the AP , at the time of this report. The storm has caused flooding from areas in Florida all the way to Tennessee. College football has also been affected, as Liberty-Appalachian State has been cancelled while Stanford has had issues in its travels to South Carolina to take on Clemson in Week 5.

Michigan's X account has yet to make another post as of this time.
