John Franklin-Myers' NFL career seemed over before it began after struggling to make it on the Los Angeles Rams roster as a fourth-round pick in 2018.

Then the New York Jets took a flier on him.

Under the coaching of Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich, JFM turned into one of the better-run defenders in the league and a very consistent edge defender for the Jets.

Due to the backlog of defensive linemen on the roster, it didn't come as too much of a surprise to the organization that Franklin-Myers was asking for a trade - a move they agreed to with the Denver Broncos.

Despite the departure, the Jets have nothing but love for their former edge rusher.

"He's such a cool story, got a lot of appreciation for him," Saleh said. "He turned into a big part of our defense, a genuine leader, and someone we looked to as a guy who was basically the ambassador of violence for our defense, so a lot of love for JFM, and big shoes to fill, and I think our guys have done a great job.

"The d line, and to his credit he was a part of it, created a standard and an expectation for everybody in that room regardless of who’s in there, and I think the things he helped establish in his first couple years has definitely carried on to the rest of the group."

As the Broncos and JFM prepare for a reunion of sorts with the Jets, those in his camp may have been frustrated with how the organization moved on from him.

But he's playing more than he would have if he chose to stay in the first place.
