The Colorado Buffaloes find themselves in another high-stakes matchup as they hit the road to face UCF. Coach Deion Sanders’ squad has been a magnet for thrilling finishes this season, but to pull off a victory in a hostile Bounce House environment, Colorado will need to address key areas. UCF is no slouch, and their dynamic offense is built to exploit weaknesses. Here’s what Colorado must do to secure the win.

    1. Protect Shedeur Sanders at All Costs

Shedeur Sanders has shown his talent under pressure, but the Buffaloes’ offensive line has struggled to give him time to make plays. They’ve allowed 16 sacks through the season, one of the highest totals in the country. While Sanders has found ways to make things happen—like last week’s thrilling Hail Mary pass—this can’t be the foundation of Colorado’s offensive game plan. UCF has had difficulty getting sacks, but they apply constant pressure. If Colorado’s O-line can’t step up and protect their quarterback, it could be a long day for the Buffaloes.

    2. Force Turnovers to Slow UCF’s Rushing Attack

UCF boasts one of the best rushing offenses in the nation, led by running back RJ Harvey. Colorado’s defense, particularly their run-stoppers, will need to tighten up after allowing Baylor’s quarterback to break loose for a long touchdown last week. Linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green must be a cornerstone, building on his strong performance against Baylor. Creating turnovers, especially fumbles in key situations, will be critical in halting UCF’s momentum. The secondary must also stay alert, as UCF’s offense can switch gears quickly with explosive downfield plays.

    3. Establish an Effective Running Game

Colorado’s ground attack has been lackluster, ranking near the bottom of the FBS in rushing yards per game. To relieve some pressure on Sanders and add balance to their offense, the Buffaloes need to get more production from the backfield. With Ohio State transfer Dallan Hayden expected to return, this could be the spark they need. A strong running game would open up more opportunities for Sanders to connect with his star receivers, including Travis Hunter, who remains a threat on both sides of the ball.

Colorado has the talent and grit, but winning on the road against a well-rounded UCF team will require more than heroic plays. They need discipline, execution, and protection for Shedeur Sanders to walk away with a victory. This is the moment for the Buffaloes to prove they’re more than just highlight-reel material—they’re Big 12 contenders.
