Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin Continue to Build Trust in Commanders Offense

In the first two games of the season, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin caught just eight total passes for under 50 yards.

As Washington tried to get their best pass catcher and second-overall pick quarterback on the same page, a glimmer of hope came forward Monday night. Clinging to a five-point lead, Jayden Daniels lofted a 27-yard pass to McLaurin in the hopes of putting the game away.

The Ohio State product did just that - sealing the win for the Commanders, but also helping Daniels with his arrival to stardom in the NFL.

"Going forward, we're going to continue to stack on that," McLaurin said. "We put that on film, and I think that's going to open up a lot of other things for us. But for him, to clearly walk that ball to me with the game on the line, those were big-time throws for a rookie to make."

It hasn't been the smoothest ride for McLaurin and Daniels as they try and develop a 1-2 partnership the likes of Dak Prescott-CeeDee Lamb or Jalen Hurts-A.J. Brown have in the NFC East.

And for that one play Monday night against the Bengals, the two showed they could be just that.

"Pieces fell in place," Daniels said. "It wasn't anything specifically, we just kept working, kept growing. And that's the testament to Terry, who he is as a pro. Be able to just be out there and be patient, because like I said before, it's not going to be smooth sailing, going to have some adversity, have some rollercoaster, some ups and downs. So, salute to Terry."

Washington will need McLaurin and Daniels on the same page going forward if they are to stay in contention of the NFC East.
