New Mexico State offensive coordinator Tyler Wright is under investigation by the university and not with the team after more than 150 social media posts with derogatory language surfaced on Friday.

Nick Coppola of the Las Cruces Sun News reported that the posts dated back more than a decade and contained offensive and derogatory language.

"Wright's posts include nearly 100 remarks on LGBTQ+ individuals including homophobic slurs, more than 60 references to Ugandan warlord Kony – many of which include racial remarks about Africans and African Americans – at least a dozen degrading posts toward females, nine posts stereotyping and demeaning Hispanics and Latinos and five uses of common racial slurs for Blacks," Coppola reported.

New Mexico State athletic director Mario Moccia told the news outlet that Wright "will not be with the team" as the matter is investigated. Wright was hired by NMSU coach Jerry Kill as a tight ends coach and special teams coordinator in 2022 and promoted to offensive coordinator in February.

Wright's promotion came with a big salary increase, Coppola reported, going from $70,000 to $200,000.

New Mexico State hosts New Mexico on Saturday.
