Lee Corso Unveils Headgear Selection for Epic Georgia-Alabama Showdown

    By Cole Sullivan,

The legendary 89-year-old Lee Corso has been a staple of “ College GameDay ” since joining the show in 1993. On Saturday, he made his 418th career Headgear selection for one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the college football season: No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs vs. No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Corso enters the game on an unprecedented hot streak, having correctly picked the last six games dating back to last season, and he's 4-0 so far this year.

This marks Alabama’s 20th time hosting "College GameDay", with the show originating from Tuscaloosa 19 times (the Tide hosted from Birmingham in 1995). Alabama joins Ohio State as the only schools to host GameDay 20 times, and this appearance is the 59th for the Crimson Tide, tying them with Ohio State for the most in history.

In those 59 appearances, Corso has made 37 selections and holds an 8-5 record in the 13 times he’s chosen Georgia.

However, he is contributing to Alabama's strong record, as he has chosen the Crimson Tide to defeat Georgia on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in this top-five showdown.

Interestingly, the road team has won every game so far when “College GameDay” is in attendance, adding an extra edge for the Bulldogs. However, head coach Kirby Smart is 1-4 when facing the Crimson Tide as a top-five ranked opponent, which favors Alabama.

The storylines surrounding this matchup are monumental. With plenty of drama, animosity, and talent set to fill Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night, all eyes will be on the field as Lee Corso aims to improve to an impressive 5-0 this season.
