Steelers vs. Colts Draws Questionable Officiating Crew

The Pittsburgh Steelers head to Indianapolis on Sunday to take on the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Based on the officials assigned to the game, they may also be battling the guys in the striped shirts.

The Steelers have had multiple big plays and scores called back for penalties, with a few of them being suspect at best. They have overcome those penalties to remain unbeaten on the year, but a few bad calls could come back to haunt them.

Dale Lolley of Steelers.com revealed the officiating crew in a post on his official X account.

“Be warned. Steelers-Colts this week will have Land Clark’s crew officiating,” Lolley wrote. “They’ve called 50 penalties in three weeks, second only to Clete Blakeman’s crew on a per-game basis. Clark’s crew has thrown 43 flags in the past two weeks.

“False start (12), holding (9) and illegal formation (6) have been the penalties called by this crew the most, so some of that isn’t on them. Eighteen of the penalties are clearly on the offenses they’ve seen.”

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has taken penalties very seriously this season. After committing a total of 19 through the first two games of the season, the Steelers only committed three last week.

Tomlin has paid NFL officials overtime to officiate practices so that his team can be clear on the rules and make fewer mistakes.

We will see if the extra work pays off with the Steelers and Colts meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Having worked at heinzfield and observing the twenty five steeler games, I became convinced and this is purely my opinion that officials are told to influence games based upon the desired outcomes of the league

Better not be the same officiating crew from last year’s Browns Colts game
