Brett Favre's Parkinson's Diagnosis Rattles Jets' Aaron Rodgers - Riggs Report

The news of former New York Jets and Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s hit me hard. Watching football in the 90s was always fun when No. 4 was on the field.

He was a real-life gunslinger and he led the Packers to back-to-back Super Bowls. Green Bay went 1-1 bringing his only Super Bowl victory home by beating the New England Patriots 35-21 down in New Orleans.

When the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers, I knew Favre’s time in Green Bay was going to come to an end sooner or later. It was three year’s later when the Pack sent him to the New York Jets.

His iron man record followed him, but a torn rotator cuff in Week 12 broke his streak of 297 games started; a record that is likely to never be broken.

What started as a tumultuous relationship in Green Bay blossomed into a deep friendship between Favre and Rodgers, the current starter for the Jets.

News like this is never easy to hear, and Rodgers admitted he was shaken by the news.

"I feel bad for him and Deanna, but it's unfortunately part of our game,” Rodgers said. “That's part of the risk of playing, and we all in the back of our mind know that that could be a reality at some point.

“We just kind of hope medicine at some point can catch up and either make the symptoms easier or eradicate some of these issues that we have."

Admittedly, its hard to hear stuff like this. As a longtime Packers fan myself, Favre has always been one of my sports heroes. I got a stack of jerseys and memorabilia to prove it.

I am definitely sending all the prayers and good vibes in Brett’s direction.
