MLB Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About Taylor Swift After Viral Photo

The NFL has Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. MLB has Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne . At least, that's the growing sentiment among many sports fans in 2024.

During Saturday's game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees, Skenes, the Pirates' rookie phenom pitcher, struck out Yankees sluggers Juan Soto and Aaron Judge to end a scoreless first inning.

In the stands watching was Livvy Dunne, LSU's star gymnast and Skenes' girlfriend, who the MLB's official social media account captured reacting to the strikeouts. The league posted a pair of photos to its nearly 12 million X followers showing the 21-year-old's excitement for her boyfriend.

The now-viral post was viewed over a half-million times and liked over 10,000 times in its first three hours on the platform.

As the MLB and Pirates social media teams continue to mix Dunne — who has over 13 million followers between Instagram and TikTok — into their own content, baseball fans have started to take notice.

Many are drawing comparisons directly to Swift's skyrocketing influence across the NFL.

"Is this MLBs taylor swift. please dont make her MLBs taylor swift," one fan pleaded .

"Football got taylor swift MLB got livvy," another wrote .

"The next Taylor Swift," echoed another.

"The Taylor Swift of baseball," one fan wrote .

"Oh Lord we gonna Taylor Swift her now," remarked another.

While Swift was already a world famous recording artist before her NFL crossover, her fame has added a new layer since she and Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end, revealed they were dating in Oct. 2023 .

The 34-year-old music icon now frequently attends Chiefs games and is often shown on TV broadcasts while taking in the games from a private suite with friends and family.

Given Dunne's pop culture relevance, MLB appears to be taking a page out of the same book as it tries to grow its social media channels and appeal to a younger demographic of fans.
