'I Don't Think He's That Guy!' Barber Slams Daniel Jones

The New York Giants are off to a rough start, posting a 1-3 record. Of course, anytime a team fails, all the blame goes to the quarterback. No matter how close New York has played two of its three victorious opponents, criticism has been inevitable.

Unfortunately, sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way.

Former Giants running back Tiki Barber, who has a show on WFAN Sports Radio in New York, has given up on quarterback Daniel Jones after yet another slow start.

“When everybody is watching, where it’s all eyes on you, show out, dude, go have your day,” Barber said. “He doesn’t come through.

“There are moments when you have to elevate. When the world, sports world, or your teammates, or your fan base, or your coaching staff is just waiting for you to be that star. And you don’t get those opportunities all the time.”

To be fair, Malik Nabers dropped a fourth-down pass that would have kept a Giants drive going in Washington Commanders’ territory in Week 2. The Giants were forced to punt and rookie phenom Jayden Daniels led his team down the field to kick the game-winning field goal. Two weeks later, Nabers would cap off another phenomenal outing with a fourth-down incompletion, and the Giants lose 20-15 to the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones hesitates and sometime waits too long to get rid of the ball. His ball placement can waver, and when he misses big-play opportunities, fans and analysts don't pull any punches.

“If you don’t take advantage of ’em, trust me, they’re not gonna come because you’re not gonna be the guy,” Barber continued. “And my issue with Daniel Jones is I don’t think he’s that guy.”

He may not be the guy, but let me remind you that Barber once pounded on the table for the quarterback and stated he “would take Daniel Jones 100 out of 100 times over Dak Prescott.”

Perhaps it's best to leave quarterbacking opinions to one's own devices.
