NFL Announces Massive Fine After Rams-49ers Sideline Incident

The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a double-digit fourth-quarter comeback to beat the San Francisco 49ers, 27-24, in Week 3.

As the 49ers were attempting a miracle lateral play with no time remaining on the clock, San Francisco's $120 million wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk took a hard hit along the Rams sideline as the ball rolled out of bounds. He then got into a shoving match with multiple people on Los Angeles' sideline as tempers flared to end the game.

Days after the dust-up, the league office has reviewed the tape and handed down a significant punishment to the Rams.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Saturday, the NFL elected to fine the Rams organization $100,000 for the incident, noting that Aiyuk was shoved by "an inactive player."

Two additional fines were also assessed to Rams players who were involved.

"Derion Kendrick, who is on IR, was fined $5,656 for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kamren Kinchens was fined $5,653," Pelissero wrote on X.

The NFL recently handed out a similar $100,000 fine to the Kansas City Chiefs after their Week 1 victory over the Baltimore Ravens due to an inactive player, Peyton Hendershot, shoving an active player, Roquan Smith.

The 1-2 Rams will look to even their record in Week 5 as they visit the 1-2 Chicago Bears. San Francisco, meanwhile, will host the New England Patriots on Sunday. Both teams enter the contest at 1-2 despite vastly different preseason expectations.
