Robert Griffin III Sent Clear Message on Nick Saban After Alabama's Win

The Alabama Crimson Tide survived a ferocious second-half comeback by the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night, winning 41-34 in Tuscaloosa. With the victory, Kalen DeBoer's team remained undefeated at 4-0 in his first season taking over for Nick Saban.

Despite Alabama holding a 30-7 lead at halftime, the SEC powerhouses combined for 1,066 yards of total offense, including 491 total yards and four touchdowns by Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.

After the final whistle, college football analyst Robert Griffin III took to social media with his immediate thoughts — one of which was a clear message about the state of Alabama football sans Saban.

"This was Kalen Deboer’s 'I’m the captain now' game," Griffin wrote on X. "Alabama is still Alabama without Nick Saban."

DeBoer and company played their closest game of the season on Saturday, having secured wins over Western Kentucky (63-0), South Florida (42-16) and Wisconsin (42-10) to open the 2024 campaign.

Saban, 72, left his post following the 2023 season, his 17th year at Alabama. The legendary head coach-turned-ESPN-analyst left big shoes to fill with his college football record seven national championship titles.

Still, DeBoer has been up for the challenge early on. He continued an important trend in Week 5 as the Tide have now defeated the Bulldogs in nine of their last 10 matchups .

"Alabama and Georgia deserve a standing ovation. That game DELIVERED. One of the best I have ever watched," Griffin added .

Alabama will hit the road in Week 6 to face off with Vanderbilt (2-2) on Saturday.
