Fans Left Speechless By Updated ESPN FPI College Football Rankings

ESPN has updated its computer-generated rankings , known as the Football Power Index (FPI), following a hectic Week 5 slate. After a few ranked losses and upsets around the college football world, the Top 25 rankings have taken a turn.
Some of the most notable movements in the FPI's top 25 include Alabama's move to No. 2 behind No. 1 Texas after a win over Georgia, Miami's fall to No. 10 after escaping with a victory over Virginia Tech and SMU's soaring to No. 19 after dismantling FSU.
Following the release of the updated rankings, fans shared their immediate reactions, with many disagreeing with ESPN's decisions.
The two teams that were questioned most were Ole Miss, which held the No. 6 slot despite losing to Kentucky at home, and Alabama, which did not move into the No. 1 spot despite taking down the Bulldogs.
"You forgot to move Ole Miss down. Do it again." said one fan.
"SMU way too high," said another fan.
"Nah. Kentucky isn't ahead of South Carolina with a head to head win of 31-6." mentioned one fan.
"Why would LSU go down..lol," commented one fan.
"Did you guys tell the computer Ole Miss lost? This is a joke." said one fan.
"How is Alabama not 1 (I’m a Georgia fan)," said another fan.
Alabama dominated Georgia in the first half of its Week 5 matchup. It went into the locker room at halftime up 30-7. The Bulldogs then bounced back in the second half, scoring eight points in the third quarter and 19 points in the fourth, but it wasn't enough, eventually falling to the Tide 41-34.
Freshman phenom wide receiver Ryan Williams led Alabama behind quarterback Jalen Milroe in an exquisite offensive showing.
Williams finished the game with six receptions, 177 yards and a touchdown, while Milroe posted two touchdowns and 374 passing yards. The star quarterback also added two touchdowns and 117 rushing yards.
Alabama also had a phenomenal defensive showing, securing three interceptions and a fumble from Georgia.
Ole Miss hosted Kentucky in its first SEC matchup of the season and was stunned at home. The Rebels fell 20-17, struggling to find an offensive flow at any point in the game behind quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Dart finished the game with one touchdown on 261 yards, completing 18-of-27 pass attempts. He was also the second-leading rusher for the Rebels, posting 22 yards on the ground.
The Rebels were abysmal on critical downs, completing 1-of-10 third down attempts and securing just 14 first downs compared to the Wildcats' 22 first downs.
Given the struggles from Ole Miss and incredible showing from Alabama, fans questioned why the rankings were finalized in that sense.
Seriously Kentucky should’ve won that game against Georgia 🙂↔️ At this point truly most underrated team I mean Michigan shouldn’t even be on that list 🤮…
