R Mason Thomas is proud of Oklahoma’s defense for the win

R Mason Thomas spoke to the media after the game about the timing of the bye week and the defense winning the game.

Auburn has control of the game and you guys took it back at the end and won. How does that feel?

Mason: Yeah, hats off to Auburn. We didn’t play a perfect game but that means that we show our toughness as a team. We had to play well and I think that’s what we did.

How big is the timing of this off week for this football team to get rested and recover?

Mason: I think it’s truly big for us because we can refocus and recalibrate. We can really focus on injuries and get healthier. A week helps. People may not think so but a week really does help, especially going into Texas week.

The offense had some big plays tonight but I think most people would say the defense won the game. How does that feel?

Mason: It feels good. It feels great to get our first ever SEC win. We needed to get that first one and we did.
