Paul Finebaum Issues Strong Statement on Alabama-Georgia Thriller

There were several big games that took place in Week 5 of the 2024 college football season, but none were bigger than Alabama's contest against Georgia.

And it's safe to say the game lived up to expectations, as Alabama managed to pull out a narrow 41-34 victory after they threw away a 28-point first half lead.

Georgia eventually took a one-point lead late in the game, but the Crimson Tide rallied at the last second to win it. Fans everywhere were shocked with how awesome this game was, and it led to a strong statement from Paul Finebaum in its aftermath.

“I’ve covered the SEC for more than 40 years. You can see that on my face right here, but I believe that is the best college football game in the SEC I have seen during all those years. I know we often get hung up on being prisoners of the moment but that is an exaggeration to say that we are in this case.” - Paul Finebaum, SportsCenter

Obviously there could be a hint of recency bias from Finebaum, but as he notes, he's been covering college football for quite some time, and it's tough to recall him feeling the same way about a game, even in the immediate aftermath.

Many folks have shared similar sentiments as Finebaum, and chances are this game will only become more and more special as time goes on.
