Texas defeated Mississippi State 35-13 in Week 5.

It marked quarterback Arch Manning's second career start and he certainly proved he has a bright future. Manning completed 26-of-31 passes for 324 yards and three total touchdowns.

His performance has earned the trust from his teammates and coaching staff this season.

"This team can count on him too," Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said to the media on what he's learned from Arch through the last 2.5 games. "There's not a lot of teams in the country that can think whichever guy is in there we can go win and we can play good football and we can count on that guy to do his job."

Following Texas' win over Mississippi State, Manning reiterated that this is Quinn Ewers' team but he'll continue to be prepared for whenever his number is called.

The Longhorns will now enjoy a bye week followed by two tough matchups against Oklahoma and Georgia back-to-back weeks. Ewers is expected to return for the Red River Rivalry.
