MetLife Misery: Jets Hit New Low ln Loss To Broncos

We have yet another reminder that the NFL is a fickle beast: the New York Jets dropped a game they should have won, a dour 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos at a rain-soaked MetLife Stadium.

Kicker Greg Zuerlein had a chance to win it at the death with a 50-yard field goal, but missed to sink New York hearts.

Coming off back-to-back wins, the Jets were in a confident mood, but all the good faith they had gained from the previous two weeks has now been wasted.

In a game that was tough to watch, the Jets led the Broncos in all the key stats except the scoreline. The Jets had more total yards, more first downs, ran 14 more plays and had the ball for a little over three minutes more.

The Jets' first four drives went as follows: fumble, punt, punt, punt before a 23-yard field goal from Zuerlein got points on the board. New York would still punt another four times throughout the game in what was a poor showing from Nathaniel Hackett's unit.

But 11 penalties for 91 yards, five sacks, and only four third-down conversions paint a picture of a tough afternoon for Aaron Rodgers and Co.

Rodgers would go 24 for 42 for 225 yards but didn't throw a touchdown; the run game was stifled, with Breece Hall (four yards from 10 carries) and Braelon Allen (34 yards from 10 carries) struggling to get going, while Mike Williams who had 67 receiving yards to led the offense.

It was an all round dirty day for the Jets as they were dealt a brutal reality check and now must pick themselves up before facing the Minnesota Vikings.

The only way to go is up, right?
