Kelsey Mitchell Recalls 'Crazy Moment' Amid Fever Exit Rumors

Despite suffering a first-round exit in the playoffs, the Indiana Fever's season was a campaign to remember.

They advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2016 and set numerous WNBA records for attendance and viewership with the arrival of rookie sensation Caitlin Clark.

It's also worth noting that Clark's backcourt partner, Kelsey Mitchell, was a huge part of their success. Mitchell and Clark both averaged 19.2 points per game during the regular-season.

There were many memorable moments for the Fever this season. But for the 28-year-old Mitchell, one particularly stood out.

"(It was) my first time seeing the amount of fans," said the two-time All-Star in a video shared by the Fever on X. "I don't know if it was like a 'This is crazy' moment, but my jaw dropped, and I think we were playing New York (Liberty), it was ESPN game.

"I'd never seen that many people at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in my life."

More than 17,000 fans watched the Fever snap their nine-game losing streak to the Liberty on July 6, 83-78. Clark became the first-ever rookie to tally a triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists. Mitchell added 14 points and four rebounds.

"It was a beautiful experience for me because I've literally been here for seven years, and that amount of people in that arena was crazy," added Mitchell, who was drafted by the Fever as the No. 2 overall pick in 2018.

Mitchell is an unrestricted free agent, and fans are worried that she might leave the Fever, especially since she's a hot commodity.

They can only hope that her positive recollection of her favorite moment this season could sway her to re-sign and continue to build on the squad's momentum.
