Giants' Brian Daboll Was Right on QB Draft Class

Perhaps New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll knew what he was talking about when he pushed general manager Joe Schoen to get into the quarterback battle for the 2024 draft.

With second-overall pick Jayden Daniels lighting things up as a member of the Washington Commanders, the Giants are left trying to pick up the pieces to their own quarterback situation.

Daniel Jones, the quarterback the organization was all to pleased to give a long-term extension to two years ago, hasn't helped change the team's losing ways of late.

He hasn't been the sole problem, but he certainly hasn't helped either.

With Daniels carving up the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, though, the reality is that the Giants know they have a lesser quarterback at their disposal.

It was something that Daboll was trying to change as early as this offseason. During a team's offseason Hard Knocks episode, New York's head coach was asked about potentially trading up from the sixth overall slot to grab one of the top quarterbacks like Daniels.

“Daniels: Have you guys seen enough that you would trade up for him?” general manager Joe Schoen asked.

“Daniels? I would,” Daboll responded.

Through the first month of the regular season, it's clear that Daboll was right on Daniels to start. If a trade could have been made, is it the Giants that are sitting at 3-1 now?

That remains to be seen, but it's very clear that New York is in a lesser quarterback situation going away.
