The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to adjust to life without their No. 1 wide receiver after Rashee Rice suffered a scary knee injury during the Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The former 2023 second-rounder appeared to have potentially torn his ACL when he collided with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, forcing Rice to leave on a medical cart .

With Rice joining No. 1 running back Isiah Pacheco and veteran wideout Marquise Brown on the sidelines, the Chiefs desperately need an offensive boost. Several talented playmakers could be available ahead of the Nov. 5 trade deadline, including Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams.

Adams, 31, is one of the best WRs today, so it isn't shocking that people want to see what he could do with Mahomes. However, NFL insider Adam Schefter suggests that those optimistic fans shouldn't hold their breath.

"I don't see the Raiders trading (Davante Adams)... Surely not to the Chiefs," Schefter said on Monday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show." "The Raiders got multiple inquiries (about Adams) this summer and didn't even entertain the conversation."

While the Raiders could change their mind if their record plummets before the deadline, Schefter says that trading Adams just isn't in their mindset.

"(The Raiders) are thinking 'We're going to keep winning like we did yesterday, we're going to get this back on track and Davante Adams is going to be a part of this," Schefter added.

After spending eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Adams was traded to the Raiders during the 2022 offseason. It then didn't take the ex-Fresno State receiver long to sign a five-year, $141.25 million contract to keep him in Sin City through the 2026 season.

Between Adams' rising salary and the fact that the Raiders still aren't Super Bowl contenders, his name has been popular among trade circles. Given everything he's accomplished, you can't blame the Chiefs for potentially being interested in his services.

Since making his NFL debut in 2014, Adams ranks second among his peers in receptions (890) and receiving touchdowns (96), while sitting fourth with 10,990 receiving yards.

With Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy as their only pass-catchers who aren't hurt, it's easy to imagine how the Chiefs might view Adams as the catalyst to potentially reigniting the offense.

For now, it doesn't look like the Chiefs will be doing business with their AFC West rival. However, if something changes and Adams is available by November, expect general manager Brett Veach to be one of the first people to give the Raiders a call.
