The Texas Longhorns were forced to turn to backup quarterback Arch Manning this past weekend for their first-ever conference game as members of the SEC.

Starting quarterback Quinn Ewers was listed as questionable throughout the week, and on Saturday, it was revealed by ESPN's Pete Thamel that he was around just 70% on Friday. So, Manning got the nod against the Mississippi State Bulldogs for what was his second start of the season. Manning again led the No. 1 Longhorns to a 35-13 victory.

In the process, he was an efficient 26-of-31 passing for 324 yards and two touchdowns, and also added a rushing touchdown to his total. While Texas fans were aware that he played well, a post by PFF only solidified just how strong of an outing it was.

According to PFF, Manning was the highest-graded Power 4 quarterback in the country with a 94.2 grade. The next closest was Wake Forest quarterback Hank Bachmeier.

Certainly, a great sight to see, considering Manning is the future of the Texas program, but also because he needed somewhat of a bounce-back game after a sluggish showing against Louisiana-Monroe.

Manning and the Longhorns have a bye this week before they head to Dallas to take on Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. The expectation is that Ewers will be back in action, but clearly Manning is ready if needed.
