No. 2 Texas has gotten off to a 5-0 start to the season.

The Longhorns will now enjoy a bye during Week 6 before facing its toughest portion of the schedule. Following the bye week, Texas will face No. 19 Oklahoma in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry and then host No. 5 Georgia on Oct. 19.

Texas' recent success has caught the attention of numerous highly rated recruits across the country and a strong showing against the Sooners and Bulldogs would only boost that notion.

Five-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn, who verbally committed to Ohio State on July 6, will make an unofficial visit to Austin for the Texas-Georgia game. Pettijohn is ranked the No. 3 linebacker in the nation for the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 8 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports composite.

Prior to announcing his commitment to the Buckeyes, Pettijohn took official visits to Texas, USC, Texas A&M and Ohio State.

As a junior in 2023, Pettijohn recorded 125 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups and one interception for McKinney High School. Texas will look to make a strong impression on Oct. 19 to aid in its attempt to keep Pettijohn in his home state.
