Alabama Star Has Blunt Message for Rest of College Football

Alabama's thrilling 41-34 victory over Georgia Saturday night meant more than just the first top-five victory of the 2024 season.

The win catapulted the Crimson Tide into the No. 1 spot in the A.P. Poll, but that ranking still doesn't do justice to the significance of the win.

For starters, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer notched his first big-time win at Alabama and passed the test that he isn't going to allow the Crimson Tide program to fall behind.

It continues the trend for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and the entire Bulldog program, which is 1-9 in their last ten games against Alabama.

But to put it bluntly, it reiterated this one thing:

"We are the standard of college football," said Crimson Tide linebacker Jihaad Campbell.

It wasn't just how Alabama ended Georgia's 42-game regular season winning streak with a pair of plays from a duo of incredible freshmen. It wasn't just quarterback Jalen Milroe showing he may add another Heisman Trophy to Alabama's collection.

It was, however, the way Alabama took the game to Georgia. For the first 30 minutes, Georgia didn't belong on the same field.

From game plan to execution to one-on-one matchups, the Crimson Tide checked all three boxes.

DeBoer and his staff, who just got to Tuscaloosa eight months ago, outclassed Smart and his group, who have been with their program for years. Although the second-half comeback was nearly historic, Alabama flexed even more by allowing its freshman wide receiver to go win the game.

In games against Smart, Dan Lanning, Steve Sarkisian, and Lincoln Riley, DeBoer is now 7-0.
