Notre Dame Lands Talented Top 100 Center Tommy Ahneman

There isn't a hotter team on the recruiting trail right now than Notre Dame, as head coach Micah Shrewsberry and his staff have landed their fourth Top 100 commitment in the last week. The latest commitment comes from North Dakota big man Tommy Ahneman .

The 6-11, 235-pound center is ranked as the nation's No. 58 overall player and No. 8 center in the 2025 class by On3. Ahneman committed to Notre Dame over Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

Ahneman dominated as a junior for West Fargo (N.D.) Sheyenne, scoring 20.3 points per game, 13.3 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game. He led Sheyenne to a state championship, and he dominated that game. Ahneman scored 28 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked two shots in the title game. His dominant junior season earned him North Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year honors. He will spend his senior season playing for Cretin Durham-Hall in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Landing at least one big man in this class was a must, and adding one as talented as Ahneman is huge for Shrewsberry and his staff. Ahneman is a true post player that can thrive around the basket. He's a quality athlete and a strong rebounder, and as his post game continues to evolve he'll be a legit scoring threat from the post. Although his post game is his strength, Ahneman has the ability to knock down midrange jumpers and is comfortable shooting from behind the arc.

Ahneman joins the nation's No. 1 ranked recruiting class according to Rivals and 247Sports. Last week the Irish also landed five-star wing Jalen Haralson as well as Top 100 forward Brady Koehler and Top 100 wing Ryder Frost . Shrewsberry is dominating in his first full recruiting class, and the Irish are likely to add at least one more player to the class.
