Knicks Cut Veteran Forward Following KAT Trade

The New York Knicks just made yet another blockbuster trade this offseason, as they acquired All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The deal has not yet been finalized, as some of the details are still being worked out. The Knicks may end up getting more pieces in the trade besides Towns, so they have opened up a few roster spots just in case.

The team announced that they are cutting veteran forward Marcus Morris Sr. after they just signed him to an Exhibit 9 deal. He was originally signed by the Knicks to compete for one of their remaining roster spots, but now that they have more depth at the big man position, the team decided they don't need him.

Chances are that a team will decide to take a chance on Morris, as he is a veteran who could make an impact on a team that is looking to contend this season. He is just once season removed from averaging 11 points and four rebounds per game, and a lot of teams could want that veteran presence coming off their bench.

The team also released Chuma Okeke, opening up another roster spot as a result. The Towns trade is not official, but the Knicks are ready if the T-Wolves send over more players in the deal.
