Alabama Coach Kalen DeBoer Echoes Nick Saban With Trap Message to Team

Alabama is riding high after a big win over Georgia, but Kalen DeBoer is focused on keeping his team grounded as they prepare for a potential trap game in Nashville against Vanderbilt.

The Crimson Tide pulled off their most significant win of the season against the Bulldogs, holding off a late charge to come away with the 41-34 win.

Heisman hopeful Jalen Milroe put on a show and Alabama racked up 547 yards of offense. Milroe finished with 374 yards passing with a pair of scores and added 117 yards and two more touchdowns with his legs.

His favorite target was true freshman receiver Ryan Williams, who had a coming out party with six catches for 177 yards — including the game-winning touchdown.

Alabama is now the top-ranked team in the country and head to Vanderbilt as a 23-point favorite, per ESPN BET. However, DeBoer doesn't want his team falling prey to a trap game.

DeBoer took a page out of Nick Saban's playbook, sending a clear message to his team by strategically placing mouse traps around the facility, according to several beat reporters . Saban used the same tactic last season before a contest against Kentucky that he viewed as a trap game.

Vanderbilt's season has been a mixed bag but the Commodores proved they can compete with elite teams last week. No. 7 Missouri needed double overtime to pull out a 30-27 win.
