The Miami Dolphins absorbed their third straight defeat after getting trampled by the Tennessee Titans, 31-12, at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday.

The Dolphins' offense went haywire once again, as star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is still out of commission due to a concussion. His replacement, fifth-year signal-caller Tyler Huntley, threw 14-of-22 passing attempts for 96 yards.

Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, meanwhile, was held to under 50 receiving yards for a third straight game, as the Titans got their first win of the season.

While Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel isn't panicking yet, getting Tagovailoa back would surely be a welcome development. Several observers were pessimistic about the 26-year-old quarterback returning this season, but according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, he could be back earlier than expected.

“The fact of the matter is, he has been symptom-free, and he has been meeting with neurologists,” said Schefter on ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown," as quoted by The Mirror's Matthew Neschis .

“I don't believe that anybody's told him anything right now to dissuade him from wanting to play. And I think there's a feeling here that he is bound to come back."

There have been suggestions for Tagovailoa to retire after suffering his third frightening concussion in two years. The Pro Bowler, however, isn't keen on doing so.

“There's a real possibility that when his four games are up on injured reserve, he's going to be back in the Miami Dolphins lineup," added Schefter. “A lot of people will find this hard to believe, hard to imagine, but there is that real possibility that he's going to be back that soon.

"And at the very least, he certainly sounds like he is intent upon continuing his NFL career sooner rather than later.”

Tagovailoa sustained his latest injury in the third quarter against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

The Dolphins will try to break their losing skid against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
