Notre Dame has gotten back on the board in the 2025 class with the announcement that Greenville (Ga.) High School quarterback Antavious Richardson has committed to the Fighting Irish. A dynamic dual-threat quarterback for the Patriots, Richardson is being recruited to play wide receiver for Notre Dame.
Richardson has seen a meteoric rise as a recruit in recent months. He was initially committed to Georgia State before flipping to South Florida over the summer. As more big time schools started looking at his film more interest grew. He is off to a blazing start to the 2024 season, and that drew the attention of big time programs like Notre Dame and Alabama.
In fact, Alabama was Notre Dame's biggest competition for Richardson. The 6-2, 175-pound athlete visited Alabama for its home game against South Florida and then trekked up to South Bend to watch the Irish beat Miami (Ohio). Notre Dame's staff made a great pitch to Richardson, who saw the vision for how he would fit into the Irish offense.
Notre Dame clearly wants more playmakers at the wide receiver position, and Richardson certainly brings that to the table. He's an impactful player with the ball in his hands, which you could see as a junior when he rushed for 801 yards while averaging 11.6 yards per attempt. Richardson had four games with over 100 yards, including a 274-yard performance against Marion County.
Richardson already has 571 rushing yards through his first five games of the 2024 season. Richardson has also stood out on defense, and as a junior he racked up 54 tackles and four tackles for loss.
The Greenville athlete shows impressive speed on film, and his personal best on the track is a 10.68. He joins a Notre Dame wide receiver class that includes New Jersey standout Elijah Burress , who is also having an outstanding senior season. He also joins fellow Georgia pass catcher Jerome Bettis Jr .
Richardson earned a four-star grade on the Irish Breakdown board, and On3 also ranks him as a four-star prospect. In fact, in their most recent rankings update, On3 ranked him as the No. 292 overall player in the country. The other services have been slow to catch up and still rank Richardson as a three-star prospect, but his film shows a much more impactful athlete.
Richardson earned offers from the Fighting Irish, Alabama, North Carolina, Mississippi State, UCF, Vanderbilt, Memphis and Duke.
