Paul Finebaum Seemingly Takes Shot At Kirk Herbstreit: 'We Don't Care About Your Dog'

Kirk Herbstreit has been a prominent figure in college football since joining the "College GameDay" crew in Aug. 1996. Ten years later, in 2006, he became ESPN and ABC's lead game analyst, both positions he still holds today.

Herbstreit has taken on additional responsibilities by calling NFL games on Thursday night for Amazon Prime with Al Michaels. While many people seem to appreciate Herbstreit in these roles, ESPN's Paul Finebaum does not appear to be a fan.

Finebaum mentioned on his show, the "Paul Finebaum Show," that he takes issue with broadcasters and analysts discussing their personal lives during the game instead of focusing on the game itself.

"We don't care that you went to your son's high school football game the night before," Finebaum said. "We don't care that you do the NFL on Thursday night; that's something you agreed to do. We don't care how many miles you have on a private jet service. We want to know your opinion of the game and we want to know what the next play is going to be. That's it. We don't care about your dog. We don't care about your family. We care about the football game."

Finebaum never mentions Herbstreit by name, but it's easy to infer who he is referring to. Herbstreit's son plays high school football, and Herbstreit calls games on Thursday night. Additionally, Herbstreit regularly posts about his travel on X , and his dog, Ben, has become a prominent figure at games in his own right.

Finebaum criticizing some of Herbstreit's topics, such as his travel schedule and calling NFL games, is one thing. But taking shots at his dog? That comment might not win over many people.
