The New York Yankees may decide to leave Marcus Stroman off of their playoff roster.

Manager Aaron Boone spoke with the media on Tuesday. He weighed in on a number of different questions about the team’s roster for the postseason. One notable player that Boone discussed was Stroman, and his response seemed uncertain.

“We'll talk,” Boone said. “Haven’t decided one way or the other on that yet.”

Stroman spent the majority of the season in the Yankees’ rotation. He was sent to the bullpen once Clarke Schmidt returned from injury and is expected to be utilized as a reliever if her were to make the team’s playoff roster.

Stroman made 30 appearances during the season and had a 10-9 record. He had a 4.31 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 154.2 innings pitched.

The righty last pitched in the postseason as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016. He has made five playoff starts and is 1-1 with a 4.40 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched.

The manager was also asked about players like Alex Verdugo, Jasson Dominguez, DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo, and more leading up to the team’s 2024 postseason debut.

"How many pitchers do we end up going with?” Boone questioned. “Who are the last couple pitchers? Maybe even a case for the last guy on the bench, depending on how many position players we go."

The Bronx Bombers will play the winner of the Wild Card series between the Kansas City Royals and the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS. The Royals won Game 1 of the three-game set.
