The San Francisco 49ers are bringing back a familiar face to the team this season. The 49ers needed to add depth at wide receiver with Chris Conley, Jacob Cowing and Ricky Pearsall dealing with injuries in Week 5.

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the 49ers are signing Terique Owens , the son of former San Francisco draft pick Terrell Owens, to the practice squad.

"The 49ers are re-signing WR Terique Owens, son of Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, to the practice squad, according to his agent (Alex Beglinger)," Garafolo posted on X. "The undrafted free agent was with the team this offseason and waived in August due to a hand injury. Now healthy, he’s back in Santa Clara."

The 49ers signed Terique as an undrafted rookie free agent following April's draft. He played college football for Florida Atlantic and Missouri State.

During his time with Missouri State, Terique Owens appeared in 26 games . He recorded 46 receptions for 765 yards and four touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver played high school basketball and football for Bishop O'Dowd in Oakland, California.

Terique Owens will join wide receivers Terrace Marshall Jr. and Trent Taylor on the practice squad. The Owens' family has a history with the 49ers.

The 49ers selected Terrell Owens with the No. 89 pick of the 1996 draft. He stayed with the team through the 2003 season.
