Indiana Fever GM Makes Kelsey Mitchell Guarantee Amid Exit Rumors

The Indiana Fever made a big front-office move when they decided to bring back Kelly Krauskopf after a seven-year hiatus.

Krauskopf served as the Fever's general manager between 2000 and 2017 before she moved on to join the Indiana Pacers, where she eventually climbed the ranks to become an assistant GM.

In September, the Fever announced that they were bringing Krauskopf back as the team's new president of basketball and business operations. Simply put, it's going to be the Krauskopf who's going to be leading the charge for the organization moving forward.

It all starts with a crucial offseason for the Fever following their most successful campaign in nearly a decade. There's no doubt that one of, if not the most important item on the offseason agenda is extending the deal of two-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell, who has now become an unrestricted free agent.

The rumors surrounding Mitchell's looming exit have become more prominent of late, which is why general manager Lin Dunn made it abundantly clear that retaining the services of the 5-foot-8 guard is the team's "biggest offseason priority."

Speaking in a radio interview on 107.5 The Fan , Dunn revealed Krauskopf's pivotal role in the team's Kelsey Mitchell mission while also delivering a bold guarantee for the fans.

"Kelly will now be in charge of the business side and the basketball side, and she will be making the decisions," Dunn said on Wednesday. "She will be negotiating with Kelsey and her agents, and I can assure you we'll do everything we can to keep her."

Of course, there's no guarantee that Mitchell will re-sign with the Fever. After all, she will be able to listen to offers from other teams, and the 28-year-old has already indicated that she will need to be "selfish" in making this decision.

As Dunn said, however, the Fever will do everything in their power to make sure that Mitchell remains in Indiana for next season and beyond.
