Disrespectful QB Rankings: Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Drops Out?

    By Jonah Morgan,

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have not been playing a top-notch level football ... as they themselves have admitted. But they are still 4-0. ... which should earn them the respect of those outlets who have charged themselves with the responsibility of "ranking'' everybody and everything.

Right? Respect for the back-to-back Super Bowl champs? Respect for the undefeated? Not exactly.

In a recent article by Pro Football Network , they rank every NFL quarterback through the first four weeks of the season. Despite being considered one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, Mahomes has dropped out of the top five, and is ranked at No. 6.

Mahomes would be the first to tell you that he is not playing the way he would like to be. But despite him not performing the way fans have come to expect of him, the Chiefs are one of the two remaining undefeated teams in the league.

He has six passing touchdowns, but also has five interceptions, as turnovers have been an issue early in the year. Mahomes is still just outside the top 10 in passing yards, is tied for fifth in touchdowns, and has done so on 68 percent completion.

It goes to show just how good of a player Mahomes is that this is considered a bad year for him so far. With that being said, he will be looking to improve his play as the season goes on, especially now that Rashee Rice could be out for an extended period of time.

In fact, in regard to what comes next for Mahomes who this week leads KC against the visiting 2-2 New Orleans Saints? "Improved play'' - given his illustrious history - seems like a virtual guarantee.
