The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, and a good portion of their success is thanks to their superstar defensive tackle, Chris Jones. Indeed, KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes has cited his team's defense as the reason the back-to-back Super Bowl champs are off to such a good start in the standings ... especially as this offense has experienced (relative) struggles.

Therefore, somebody on this defense deserves some credit and some recognition. That "somebody,'' logically, should be the defense's best player. So ...

In a recent article by PFF , they put together a team of the players who they believe have been the best through the first quarter of the season. But at the interior defender position, Jones is nowhere to be found.

Instead, they have Pittsburgh Steelers veteran Cameron Heyward and New York Giants superstar Dexter Lawrence. While both of those guys have been great to start the year, Jones has been more crucial to his team's success - in part because no team has has more success (at 4-0!) than Jones' Chiefs.

He has three sacks so far this season, which places him second among defensive tackles, only behind San Francisco 49ers' Kevin Givens. Only difference between the two is that the Niners have multiple threats to worry about on their line, but Jones is the focus of the offensive line on the Chiefs.

He also leads all defensive tackles in the NFL in quarterback pressures with 12, as he has been able to get into the backfield with consistency. If he can continue to do that - while carrying a load on defense in a way that buoys Mahomes' offense - he will prove that he deserved to be on this team by being named All-Pro at the end of the season.
