Golden State Warriors legend and current Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Klay Thompson has faced significant challenges over the past five seasons. He endured two major injuries, made a comeback, and faced considerable backlash for not being the same two-way player he was before—understandably so, given the nature of his injuries and his age.

Last season, Thompson was often viewed as an inefficient option and a defensive liability due to his altered performance, which ultimately led to the Warriors not meeting his contract demands. This paved the way for his signing with the Dallas Mavericks, who are fresh off an NBA Finals appearance.

In an interview with Tristan Jass , Thompson reflected on his final year with the Warriors, asserting that he still delivered "great" production during the season.

“At the end of the day, I look back like, bro, I still play a phenomenal brand of ball. You 18 a game, 39% from three. I’m not gonna let someone tell me that’s not great.” Thompson said.

Last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.6 steals, shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.7% from three-point range.

Now, he joins a Mavericks offense led by creators Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving , both of whom draw significant defensive attention. This setup could pave the way for a potential bounce-back year for Thompson as he aims to silence his critics.
