It is never easy to know when, exactly, recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce should be taken seriously, but nonetheless, his sharp-tongued rant against all things numerical on the lastest edition of the "New Heights" podcast has attracted considerable attention.

In a discussion with his brother, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce weighed in on the thoughts of Falcons coach Raheem Morris, who was asked about the low statistical production of tight end Kyle Pitts (who had no catches) after a Falcons win on Sunday. Morris created headlines by declaring, "Stats are for losers."

And Jason Kelce was right there backing him up on that. Spoken like a true offensive lineman, Kelce said that wins and losses are the only numbers of significance.

“Stats are numbers,” Jason said ( at 1:33:24 of the video ). “What I care about is the football. Where does it go, does it go in the end zone? Do we get points? Points are also numbers, but points determine games, and wins and losses. Stats are numbers, numbers are nerds, nerds are losers. Therefore stats are losers.”

Throughout his brother's explanation, Travis Kelce wore a wry smile. He, of course, has been somewhat under fire for a slow statistical start to the Chiefs season, though he put up big numbers (seven catches, 89 yards) in Week 4. But Kansas City is 4-0.

One post about the clip, from Fox, drew 2.6 million views . Another, from the MLFootball account , drew more than 314,000.

"If you care enough about stats for it to change your day, I think that’s when you don’t have a winning mentality,” Travis said. “So, I get what coach Morris is saying. But at the same time, if you’re putting the ball in the end zone you’re going to get stats. It is what it is. ... You're not counting stats.”

Jason did not stop there, continuing his tongue-in-cheek attack on mathematics: "Numbers are for the analytics people. And the pencil-pushers. And the zit faces. And the four-eyes."

Travis did his best to plow through his brother's harangue. "It is what it is," he said.

    Indeed. That adds up.
