Caitlin Clark Fans Demand Answers From WNBA Over Rookie of the Year Controversy

The 2024 WNBA season has been historic for many reasons, but one player in particular has had a greater impact than anybody else. That player is Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark.

Averaging 19.2 PPG, 8.4 APG, and 5.7 RPG, Clark had an outstanding season, making history seemingly every week. This historic season landed her in the top-five in MVP voting, making her a near lock for the rookie of the year award.

While she was already named the unanimous rookie of the year by the Associated Press, their award is separate from the WNBA's official awards. That said, on Thursday afternoon, the WNBA announced that Clark is their official Rookie of the Year winner, though she wasn't unanimous.

Clark landed 66 out of 67 first place votes, falling just short of being the unanimous winner. One voter had Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese as their winner, which has led fans of Clark to demand answers as to who that voter is.

Though it's understandable why Clark fans are upset, Reese also had a spectacular season for the Sky as she finished with the most rebounds per game in league history. Even so, Clark not only finished with a more well-rounded stat line, but she led her team to the playoffs after being one of the worst teams in the league last year.

Clark is extremely deserving of the award, as it was one of the best rookie seasons in WNBA history. Though she didn't make it past the first round of the playoffs, her future with the Fever is extremely bright.
